I am really bad at introductions… I’m Nicole and I am 29. I was born and raised an only child in the armpit of California (Fresno). I now reside with my husband, daughter, son, and our cat Spooky in the DFW area of Texas.
I am the mommy a little girl named Evangeline, born in February 2013, and a baby boy named Dawson, born in May 2015. They are my whole world. Being a mom has been quite the learning experience, but I am loving every minute of it. They are such blessings, especially after 3 years TTC (trying to conceive) with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. There was a time that I thought I may never be able to have children, especially after my diagnosis at age 18, and now I cannot imagine my life without them.
I met my husband when we were 13 and in 8th grade but we didn’t become a couple until we were 22. He an Air Force Vet and a huge nerd. I am a stay at home mom and quite the nerd myself. We are gamers, but not the never come out of the house, living in mom’s basement type. I don’t play very often anymore, but I occasionally unwind with a game after the kids go to bed. My husband and I mainly play Call of Duty and other FPS (first person shooters).
When we have the time, we love to travel, go camping, go to the water park (Schlitterbahn!!), and watch movies (especially zombie or post apocalyptic/distopian future movies). I love getting new tattoos and piercings, trying out new recipes, reading, eating out at new restaurants, window shopping, doing craft projects, and being very sarcastic. I am a huge The Walking Dead fan (both the comic book and the TV series), and I also dig Falling Skies, The Strain, The Last Ship, Orange is the New Black, and Bates Motel when I get a chance to watch them.
I suffer from anxiety, particularly social anxiety, so I am a bit of a homebody. I would rather have a few good friends than lots of casual friends. I hate conflict and would rather avoid it when possible. I fight a never ending battle with my self esteem, but I hope that one day I will feel comfortable being myself without worrying what other people think. I like to think that I am a constant work in progress; always trying to improve.
My blog is going to be a mish-mash of things. I was considering starting just a “mommy blog”, but I also want to write about other things. So, there will be mommy posts, reviews, travel posts, cooking, my journey with PCOS, my random thoughts, or whatever strikes my fancy.
